I have a lot of hope. Hope that everything will work out eventually. Hope that there is still a lot of good in the world. And that there is a God, He is our Heavenly Father. He knows us. He sent His son to redeem us. Every bad thing that happens is only temporary. Religion is an important part of my life and it is the reason for my hope. It is the reason why I have the motivation to keep going despite difficulties.

I believe that if we are not moving forward, we are moving backward. This is because, in order to move forward again, we have to re-accomplish things we have already accomplished. We only have to be a little better today than we were yesterday.

It is easy to get in a rut where we are simply surviving from day to day. We may justify wasting our time watching t.v. or being on the internet because we are tired. I know I feel this way after a long day at work or even a long day of taking care of the kids. By working on improving myself every day though, I actually feel less tired, more alive, and happy.

While I believe that exercise, keeping the house clean, getting enough sleep, etc are all important to my well being. I truly believe that having God in our lives and striving to be closer to him is what is MOST important. That has been my biggest goal the last few weeks. To spend time praying and reading scriptures and church teachings. If religion isn’t your thing, I am not offended if you chose to stop reading here. But the reason I am writing this post is to help people understand why religion is important to me and how I KNOW that it can help you too.

I believe that we can be guided by God through what’s called, the Holy Ghost. He can give us promptings to make good choices in life or to call a friend or serve someone in need. He can also bring things to our remembrance. This is what I have noticed most the last few weeks. I have received reminders to stick to the routine I have established. To drink water, to exercise, to keep the house clean, etc. I have also had increased motivation to accomplish what I hoped to. I even believe that He has helped bring to mind a lot of my blog post ideas.

The title of this post comes from 1 Peter 3:15-16

15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

I have a lot of hope within me. The reason for my hope is Jesus Christ. I know that He lived and died for us. I know that He knows each of us and the struggles we face. He can lighten our burden’s because He alone knows how we feel. This is because of His Atonement, where He suffered for all of our sins and afflictions. He felt each and every one of them. I know this is true. This is the reason for my hope.

Sorry if this post was too preachy for you. That is not what I intended. I just wanted to share the reason for my hope and motivation with you. If you want to learn more about my church though I encourage you to visit Mormon.org. There are missionaries there that can answer any questions that you may have. You can ask me anything about my religion as well!
